FAQ

How is drenchbar® different than other lotion bars?

Most lotion bars are formulated to be used on dry skin. Because they don’t use water or emulsifiers, they function more like body oil than lotion. drenchbar® is designed to be used on wet skin, right after your shower. Our unique formula includes water-loving ingredients and emulsifiers that attract the water like magnets and pull it deep below your skin's surface. The rich butters and oils in the bar blend with the water on your skin to turn into a lotion.

How is drenchbar® different than conventional body lotion?

Conventional body lotions may contain 75% water. drenchbar® is waterless. We leave out the water so you only pay for and use what you need–clean, plant-based ingredients. Because of this, our bar is 4x as concentrated as a 12 oz. bottle of conventional body lotion. You get all of the benefits of traditional body lotion with none of the drawbacks.

What are the directions for drenchbar®?

Step 1: After you turn off the shower, hand wipe or towel blot excess water from your body. We like our skin pretty damp but not dripping. Step 2: With the flat side down, glide the bar over your body, and massage it into your skin with your hands. We like to use circular or back-and-forth motions, so you get more "lotioning" effect. If it drags on your skin, you need more water. Step 3: Pat dry as needed and get dressed, or just throw on a robe to air dry. No rinse required.

Can I use drenchbar® on dry skin?

Yes. It is excellent dry for added intensity on extra dry areas like hands, heels, and elbows (especially on the go). Give it a try and let us know what you think.

How wet should my skin be?

That’s personal. How much water you need depends on your skin type, how warm the bar is at use, how much hair you have on your body, and more. We like to hand wipe or towel blot the excess water after our shower and then apply. Our skin is pretty damp, but not dripping wet. If it is not going on easily, you probably need more water.

What if I dried off already but still want to use it?

Just wet the bar or your hands and apply. Or apply dry.

What if I don’t want the plastic packaging?

When the founder came up with this idea, she wanted the brand to be entirely plastic-free. While that was not realistic for this product right now, we’re constantly working toward that goal and reevaluating options. We were able to dramatically reduce the amount of plastic per unit and use 100% recycled materials. drenchbar® packaging has 94% less plastic than a traditional 12 oz bottle of lotion. However, there were many factors that had to go into our packaging development: stability, compatibility, and functional quality. We need the plastic to ensure the bar doesn’t melt or degrade on its way to you.

What if my bar arrives a little melted, can I still use it?

Absolutely. Just pop it in the fridge or freezer to firm up and use as directed. Why is this happening? To make the bar enjoyable and easy to use, it needs to have a lower melt point. On its journey to you, temperatures can get up to 140 degrees which may cause some softening or melting of your bar. It can melt and reform without any degradation of performance.

How do I care for my drenchbar®?

Make sure to let your bar dry out between uses and keep it elevated out of sitting water.

Will the drenchbar® get my towel sticky or dirty?

It should not.

Where should I store my drenchbar®?

Someplace dry and accessible. We’ve made the lid of the package a stand to keep your bar elevated out of standing water while at home.

Can I travel with my drenchbar®?

Yes. drenchbar® is concentrated, making it is easy to pack and TSA friendly for carry-ons. If you’re using the packaging as a case, be sure to let the bar dry out and ensure there is no standing water. We're working on a reusable travel case to make that even easier, so stay tuned. But for now, keep it dry.
